August 28, 2015

Put an Island in Your Life

Labor Day weekend is the perfect time to take that island trip you've been putting off. Let the ferry whisk you away to Middle Bass, South Bass (Put-in-Bay), or Kelleys Island for the weekend or a day of sightseeing, exploring nature, or people-watching. Island establishments will have plenty of live music and entertainment.

Grab a Deal and Ride a Roller Coaster

Cedar Point ushers summer out in style with fun entertainment and money-saving deals! Everyone pays kids price when tickets are purchased online. Plus, Dollar Days are back for Labor Day weekend. Enjoy $1 deals on treats, sweets, games, and merchandise! For added weekend fun, dance the evening away on Saturday and Sunday with kilt-wearing, bagpipe-playing Celtic rock band, Off Kilter. Shows are held at 4, 6, & 8 pm on the Celebration Plaza Stage.

Perch, Peach, Pierogi & Polka Festival

Head out to Port Clinton to enjoy Lake Erie perch sandwiches or dinners, hot pierogies, pizza, polish sausage, and delicious peach cobbler topped with Toft's ice cream. Award-winning polka bands will play under the big tent for your polka-pleasure!

Milan Melon Festival

The 57th annual Milan Melon Festival features rides, games, contests, car show, and live musical entertainment. The Grand Parade is on Sunday afternoon. You won't want to miss out on the only offering of Toft Dairy's famous muskmelon ice cream and watermelon sherbet, offered each year only during this festival.

Perry's Victory Regency Ball

Dust off your dancing shoes and enjoy an evening straight out of the 19th century at Put-in-Bay! The Central Ohio Symphony provides the music and guests can learn the traditional steps that were in fashion in 1812. Put on your best historic attire for a chance to win the period dress contest with prizes awarded to the most authentic, crowd favorite, and most creative costumes. Light hors d'oeuvres and dessert are included in admission and a cash bar will be open throughout the evening.

Lakeside Fireworks

A patriotic fireworks display over the water will close out the summer season on Saturday, September 5 at Lakeside. The fireworks display will take place near the dock following The Motortown All-Stars concert, starting at 9:30 pm. A rain date is scheduled for Sunday, September 6. Great fireworks viewing locations: the beach at East Harbor State Park and Marblehead Lighthouse State Park.

Hit a Few Rounds of Golf

There are just a few more months to perfect your swing at one of our award-winning golf courses: Catawba Island Club and Marina North, Keys Golf Course and Driving Range, Mills Creek Golf Course, Oak Harbor Golf Club, Sawmill Creek Golf Club, and Thunderbird Hills Golf Course.
