The World Premiere of President Mom
Wed-Thurs & Sat 7:30 pm, Fri 10 am
BGSU Firelands College - McBride Auditorium, 1 University Dr., Huron
$5-10/person
President Mom introduces us to Claire McCallister, a typical teenage girl. She is stressed out about her bio exam and even more about finding a date to her high school’s spring dance. This would be tough for anyone to handle, but Claire’s mother just happens to be The President of the United States. When Claire’s mom offers her the chance of a lifetime, to meet her rock star idol, Clair jumps at the chance. The catch: Claire has to take Brent Baumgartner, the nerdiest boy in school, to the dance. Still, she agrees to go along with her mom’s scheme, until a European Prince arrives and turns Claire’s world upside-down.

Noises Off
Harlequins Community Theatre, 414 Wayne St. (rear), Sandusky

A manic menagerie, Noises Off is a play within a play. It is about an ambitious director and his troupe of mediocre actors. The cast and crew are putting together a silly sex comedy titled, Nothing On - a single-set farce in which lovers frolic, doors slam, clothes are tossed away, and embarrassing hi-jinks ensue. The three acts of Noises Off expose different phases of the troupe's disastrous show.

"Steel Magnolias"
Fri-Sat 8 pm, Sun 2 pm
Playmaker's Civic Theatre, 604 W. 6th St., Port Clinton
The action is set in Truvy's beauty salon in Chinquapin, Louisiana, where all the ladies who are "anybody" come to have their hair done. Helped by her eager new assistant, Annelle (who is not sure whether or not she is still married), the outspoken, wise-cracking Truvy dispenses shampoos and free advice to the town's rich curmudgeon, Ouiser, an eccentric millionaire, Miss Clairee, and the local social leader, M'Lynn. The story bounces from humor, to love, to tragedy, and back which gives the play, and its characters a special quality to makes them truly touching, funny, and marvelously amiable company in good times and bad.
