Every Fourth of July, Ohio’s Lake Erie Shores & Islands’ visitors and locals alike enjoy dazzling fireworks displays. Here are seven of the most spectacular celebrations, plus tips on how to get the best view for all of them this Independence Day.
Independence Day Celebration
The village of Oak Harbor will kick off their Independence Day celebration a day early. Festivities begin at 5 pm. There will be food vendors, entertainment, giant inflatables, the Royal Duck Race, 50/50 drawings, and a beer garden. The night would not be complete without the sky being illuminated with the most spectacular fireworks display around!
Where to watch: The best place to watch the fireworks is downtown along the Portage Riverbank.
Light Up the Point
Celebrate Independence Day at Cedar Point, featuring spectacular fireworks on the beach and awesome activities for the whole family.
Where to watch: The absolute best place to watch the fireworks is at the park, either on the midway or their beautiful mile-long beach. Can’t make it to Cedar Point? Set up shop at Battery Park Marina, Shoreline Park, or Jackson Street Pier to enjoy the show.
4th of July Fireworks Cruise
Enjoy Cedar Point’s fabulous fireworks display on the Sandusky Bay aboard the Goodtime I. Reservations are required for this event, with tickets starting at $63.95. Guests aboard the Goodtime I will enjoy fireworks from the peaceful waters of Lake Erie in front of Cedar Point.
Put-in-Bay 4th of July Fireworks
Celebrate America's birthday at the annual Island Business Owners and Friends of the Bay sponsored spectacular fireworks program at dark.
Where to watch: Fireworks display over the downtown harbor; great views from Perry’s Monument and downtown. Prefer to be on the water? Hop aboard the Jet Express for their special fireworks cruise. Views of the shoreline and sunset, highlighted by a huge fireworks display, make this a great way to celebrate Independence Day.
Port Clinton Area 4th of July Celebration
Begin the day with the Star Spangled Squirt Gun 5K Walk/Run then enter your child/grandchild in the Firecracker Cutie contest. Enjoy the Voices of Freedom concert, ice cream/hot dog/apple pie social, movie marathon, and fireworks of course!
Where to watch: For best viewing of the fireworks, grab a blanket or lawn chair and head out to Water Works Park.
Lakeside Chautauqua Independence Day
Fourth of July festivities kick-off with the Children's Bike Parade at 10 am followed by the Fourth of July Float Parade at 10:15 am with unique golf cart floats; cookout at Lakeside Hotel lawn from 11 am-3 pm; and fireworks at 9:45 pm.
Where to watch: Catch a spectacular view of the fireworks along Ohio’s Most Beautiful Mile or at Lakeside Pavilion.
Red, White, & Blues Bang
Begin the evening listening to the blues at the Huron Boat Basin and end it by watching a beautiful display of fireworks. Band performances start at 6 pm; fireworks begin at 10:15 pm.
Where to watch: Catch the fireworks from the Huron Boat Basin, Old Fish House, Lakefront Park, or Nickel Plate Beach.
