Kelleys Island - Lake Erie's Balanced Island Destination
So, you want to take a trip to the Lake Erie Islands this summer. You want to go somewhere that is brimming with natural beauty and history, but you also want to chill out. And, you also want to eat great food, shop at independent boutiques, enjoy a few cocktails, and maybe see some live music. And, you want to be able to bring your entire family so you can create summer memories that will last a lifetime! So where do you go?
Come on over to Kelleys Island, the Lake Erie Island that has it all! This summer is jam packed with free events that are appropriate for all ages, too.
First up, on July 13, the island will be hosting its very own juried talent show! The first annual Kelleys Island’s Got Talent takes place in Memorial Park on Saturday, July 13, at 1pm. The program will include singers, musicians, and other types of entertainers. There will also be local celebrity judges and an emcee, grilled foods to eat, and a beer tent. First prize is $2,000, second prize $1,000! This event will benefit the Chamber of Commerce and is sponsored by Remax Beyond 2000 and Merrill Lynch.
This year's Island Fest (July 19-21) will commemorate the 50th anniversary of the famous Woodstock concert, held in 1969 in upstate New York. The event’s format is typical of festivals in years' past, but with a special 60s era twist. Far out, man! Island Fest, as always, is great fun for the whole family! Sponsored by the Kelleys Island Chamber of Commerce, Island Fest will feature Ohio artisans, local crafters, food vendors, a beer tent, and evening street dances. Saturday kicks off with a lively parade, followed by afternoon live entertainment and fireworks at dusk. Join us downtown Kelleys Island at Memorial Park, 112 Division Street, for all the fun during Island Fest 2019!
Hancock-Wood Electric Cooperative, a Touchstone Energy® Cooperative, is once again partnering with the Kelleys Island Chamber of Commerce to facilitate another beloved event, the 13th annual Kelleys Island Film Fest, which will be held July 26-28. We'll feature six different blockbuster movies, including The Goonies, Mary Poppins Returns, A Star is Born, The Secret Life of Pets, How to Train Your Dragon, and Bohemian Rhapsody. Films will be shown both indoors and outdoors. Outdoor films will be projected on an inflatable screen at the Kelleys Island ballfields, indoor films will be shown at Town Hall. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets, chairs, or golf carts for seating.
