Cedar Point, a place like no other, opens for the 2021 season on Friday, May 14. With 18 world-class roller coasters, kids’ areas, live shows, lakefront boardwalk, and more, Cedar Point is the perfect destination for family fun! If you’re planning a visit this year, there are several things you’ll want to know.
What’s New
Cedar Point will continue to commemorate their 150th Anniversary in 2021. The park is looking forward to celebrating with all of its fans this season. New attractions and experiences include Snake River Expedition, the Celebrate 150 Spectacular (which includes a Midway parade), a reimagined Town Hall museum, and several new food and beverage options.
Snake River Expedition, which will debut on May 29, is an interactive adventure for all ages where riders join a mission to smuggle valuable goods around Adventure Island on a river boat ride. Passengers will encounter many surprises along the way, including live characters, animated scenes, and special effects.
Also new for 2021 are 25 new Deluxe RV sites at Lighthouse Point. The upgraded sites include private patio, enhanced landscaping, built-in charcoal grills, and more.
Special Events
The season kicks off on May 14 with Cedar Point’s Frontier Festival! Frontier Town will transform into a Wild West hootenanny, brimming with live music, interactive games for adults and kids, festive décor, street entertainers and a mouth-watering food and drink menu. Frontier Festival will continue its partnership with Prayers From Maria, a local organization whose mission is to celebrate hope, raise awareness and money to fund research to end childhood cancer. A wide selection of unique items from local artisans and crafters will be available, as well as themed photo spots to capture family moments. This year, Frontier Festival’s menu centers around a stockpile of cherries amassed during the harvest, and the town folk have made it their mission to use this bounty to create sweet and savory dishes and drinks for this year’s celebration. More than 20 cherry-inspired food tastings will be available, and adults can quench their thirst by sampling from more than 100 craft brews, seltzers, ciders and custom cocktails around Frontier Town. The Frontier Festival continues through June 13.
Cedar Point’s 150th Anniversary Summer Celebration fills the heart of summer, June 26-August 15. The season will heat up with the continuation of Cedar Point’s 150th anniversary celebration. The centerpiece will be the Celebrate 150 Spectacular parade and nighttime party, with larger-than-life floats (some more than two stories tall) that depict moments in the park’s rich history, talented dancers, acrobats and performers, a high-energy soundtrack, and a grand finale like no other. Special commemorative merchandise will also be available during the celebration, including limited-edition buttons, collectable pins, 150th anniversary logo items, books, and more. New food options are set to debut, including C.P. Juice Co., featuring unique fruit-shaped drink cups that are a nod to the very same products served in the park years ago. The Taste of the Point food tour will also be offered, allowing guests to sample some of the park’s most famous fare, including new Cedar Point favorites.
Cedar Point Nights, back to the beach where it all began, rounds out the summer season August 6-September 5. Dance the night away on the beach. If you’re looking to unwind and relax, you’ll be able to do both with plenty of fire pits and lounge chairs. Or, challenge each other with larger-than-life games. Experience fun on the beach like never before at Cedar Point Nights!
Cedar Point Shores
After a year off due to COVID restrictions, Cedar Point Shores is back and ready to welcome guests again for splash-tastic good times! The Cedar Point Shores Waterpark is scheduled to open on May 29 and will remain open weekends-only through June 6, daily through August 15, then weekends through September 6. Cedar Point Shores features 18 acres of water attractions, including thrilling slides, a wave pool, and children’s water play areas. Cabanas are available for rent and yummy treats are offered at Beaches & Cream.
Park Safety Policies for 2021
Cedar Point is excited to welcome back guests for 2021, especially after a COVID-shortened season last year. One key change visitors need to be aware of, is the need to make reservations to visit both Cedar Point and Cedar Point Shores. In order to maintain park capacity limits and allow for social distancing of park patrons, both season passholders and single-day ticketholders must make a reservation at cedarpoint.com. Reservations will be included with the purchase of a single-day ticket and reservations to Cedar Point are included with overnight stays at any of the Cedar Point resorts. However, separate reservations are needed for resort guests who wish to visit Cedar Point Shores. For your safety and the safety of others, mask up. Facial coverings will be required at all indoor locations, including restaurants (unless actively eating or drinking), retail, and restrooms, per State of Ohio mask mandates. Masks will not need to be worn outdoors, unless social distancing cannot be maintained. At least one member of your group will need to have the Cedar Point mobile app downloaded to a phone – this allows for touchless ticketing, self-health screening, and real-time park updates. Hand sanitation stations have been added throughout the park. These enhanced procedures will help reduce the spread of germs so that guests can safely and confidently enjoy the thrills and fun of Cedar Point.
