SHORES & ISLANDS OHIO, October 9, 2023 ---The October 14th annular eclipse is upon us, our official kickoff to the April 8, 2024 total solar eclipse collaborative community marketing and communication efforts. We hope you’re as excited for the sprint to this April eclipse as we are! As community partners, we have some requests of you as we try to ensure our local audience knows this total solar eclipse is coming next April:
1. One of the best ways we can make locals aware is through a massive and intentional “Save the Date” effort, shared by partners of all types (main streets, municipalities, businesses, etc.). We are asking that on Thursday, October 12th, you share the attached graphic on your social media channels. In addition to the graphic (attached), we have drafted a message (below) for you to include – or feel free to use your own, either way we appreciate access to your social and aid in communicating this to our community members.

2. Please send the Save the Date info to any local lists you may have (local businesses, department heads, etc.). The more the merrier, as we’re trying to help businesses prepare and get families and employees to know this is coming and begin planning.
As a reminder, on April 8, 2024, Shores & Islands Ohio will be in the path of totality for a solar eclipse. The moon will completely block out the sun for approximately four minutes, which is one of the longest durations in the path.
With unobstructed views on Lake Erie or in the acres of greenspace throughout the area and special viewing parties in our coastal communities, Shores & Islands Ohio is an ideal location to witness the celestial event.
