Shores & Islands Ohio is the official destination marketing organization (DMO) for Erie and Ottawa counties, dedicated to showcasing the best of our Lake Erie communities. We connect visitors with unforgettable experiences while positioning our region as a premier place to visit, live, work, and invest.
Our Mission
Enhance the Destination's Economic Vitality through Collaborative Promotion and Creation of Memorable Experiences that increase visitor engagement, thus enhancing the region's Quality of Life.
How We Do It
We leverage a mix of proven marketing strategies—digital advertising, SEO, social media storytelling, video, public relations, group travel outreach, and print publications. Shoresandislands.com serves as the hub for trip planning and inspiration, while we also provide partners with valuable tools such as cooperative marketing opportunities, training, and data insights.
How We’re Funded
Our efforts are fueled through a reinvestment model that benefits the entire region. A portion of the lodging tax collected from overnight stays in Erie and Ottawa counties directly supports our work, meaning visitors help fund future marketing and destination development. Additional support comes from cooperative programs and sponsorships with area businesses, strengthening both the visitor experience and the local economy.
