Morning: Start your time in Shores & Islands Ohio by journeying across the lake to Put-in-Bay on South Bass Island. Climb aboard the Jet Express, a high speed passenger ferry, or Miller Ferry, a passenger and auto ferry, to begin your island adventure. On the island, enjoy a bird’s eye view from the observation deck of Perry’s Victory and International Peace Memorial. Located near the base of the 352-foot-tall Doric column is Perry’s Victory Visitor Center which offers artifacts and exhibits from the Battle of Lake Erie.
Lunch: Venture from the memorial to downtown Put-in-Bay for lunch. With a number of restaurants including The Boardwalk or Frosty Bar, the group is in for a tasty treat.
Afternoon: Time to see more of the island through an hour-long guided tour aboard Island Transportation’s tour train. The guide shares about the island’s rich history of agriculture and tourism as well as its importance during the War of 1812 during the Battle of Lake Erie. To get a true understanding of the agriculture and tourism impact of the island visit Heineman’s Winery and Crystal Cave. A tour of the wine cellar and the cave also includes a glass of grape juice or wine.
Evening: The rest of the evening can be spent back in downtown Put-in-Bay shopping, trying a different restaurant for dinner, and enjoying island life or board the ferry and return to visit downtown Port Clinton. Back on the mainland, Port Clinton has a handful of group dining options along with shops to check out. In the summer, enjoy live entertainment on Music on Madison.
Morning: All great mornings start with a great breakfast and Sandusky Bay Pancake House has that in spades. Choose from the large spread of menu items including egg dishes, pancakes, waffles, crepes, and French toast. If traditional breakfast food isn’t your style, no worries, they also have a selection of sandwiches, burgers, and salads to choose from.
Well-fed and ready to continue on, join Firelands Adventure Tours for one of their tours such as the Underground Railroad Tour or Catawba Island Tour. With options to fit the groups size, your group can hop aboard the Firelands Adventure bus, the guides can step on the group’s motorcoach, or alternative plans can be made.
Lunch: Grab a quick bite from Vine & Olive, a Mediterranean restaurant and market featuring gyros, sandwiches, and salads or visit Firelands Winery for wine tasting and delicious sandwiches, burgers, salads, and pizzas.
