“A FLUSH ABOVE THE REST”
SHORES & ISLANDS OHIO, February 23, 2026 – Shores & Islands Ohio, the destination marketing organization for Erie and Ottawa counties, is thrilled to announce the winners of its annual Super BOWL Bathroom Contest, a region-wide celebration of standout restroom design and function. As part of this fun, community-driven competition, social media followers nominated and voted for the Best Bathrooms within the Shores & Islands Ohio region. The winners were celebrated across Shores & Islands Ohio’s social channels, managed by Meaghan Reynolds, with the special honor of the Golden Throne Trophy and the catchphrase of being, “A Flush Above the Rest!”
The 2026 Super BOWL winners were:
- First Place: Worn Well Tattoos, Sandusky
- Second Place: Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge, Oak Harbor
- Third Place: The Forge, Put-in-Bay
About the Contest:
With no single football team to rally behind in our region, Shores & Islands Ohio pivoted to a playful and engaging competition that honors everyday usability, creativity, and comfort in the most essential room of any home or facility: the bathroom. A play on the Super BOWL, if you will. The reason? We all spend time in bathrooms. Why not highlight the standout facilities in the area to frequent?
The winners were selected through a three-step process: social media followers first nominated standout bathrooms, Shores & Islands Ohio staff then narrowed down the partner nominees, and finally, the community voted to determine the rankings. Finalists and winning businesses really got into the competition – imploring their fans and followers to vote for them. The winning entries were highlighted in the “A Flush Above the Rest!” showcase across social media platforms on Super Bowl Sunday and each business was awarded a toilet bowl trophy to display.
