MG Car Club event logoShores & Islands Ohio is excited to welcome the North American Council of MG Registers to the region August 23-27th, 2026!

North America is home to four major MG Car clubs: The North American MMM Register (1929-1936), The New England MGT Register (1935-1955), the North American MGA Register (1955-1962), and the North American MGB Register (1962-onward). The Council was formed in 2002 to promote shared events across the four Registers to their collective 7,000 members.

Every five years, a combined event is held where all four Registers come together for one large show which includes a large car show, scenic drives, tech sessions, events for spouses and navigators, and a large closing banquet. They have previously held this event in Indianapolis, Indiana; St. Paul, Minnesota; Reno, Nevada; Gatlinburg, Tennessee; Louisville, Kentucky; and most recently in Atlantic City, New Jersey. For the Sandusky, Ohio event, they are planning for 750 cars and 1,300 people to attend. The clubs have members in all fifty states plus most of the MG convertible carCanadian provinces and even some in countries overseas.

When it came to selecting the location for 2026, Sandusky and Kalahari Resorts & Conventions met the base requirements on hotel space, convention space, and being centrally located to a large percentage of attendees. The variety of things to do in the destination plus unique scenic drive opportunities set the destination apart. The committee members are excited to show visitors from around the area, the country, and internationally, just how special the Sandusky area is. As part of the gathering, attendees will have the chance to enjoy two Lake Eriecruises, MG sports carbeer and wine tastings at local establishments, and visits to neighboring communities. The committee members are hoping many of the participants will arrive a few days early or stay a few days after to experience the attractions they cannot fit in during the event.

They will be holding a car show on Wednesday, August 26th, from 9 am to 1 pm at Osborn Park. This event is free and open to the public. All are welcome to come see the MGs and other British cars – the organizer’s goal is to have 1,000 vehicles!

For those interested in attending the whole event, registration is still open and does not require membership to one of the four major clubs to participate. Check out their website to learn more, sign up, and reserve your room.
