Nature enthusiasts rejoice! Ohio’s Lake Erie Shores & Islands has a new overnight option for those who enjoy the great outdoors – and it is unlike any place else in the world! Ohio Department of Natural Resources and Ohio State Parks & Watercraft recently unveiled their newest overnight offering, the Lake House at North Bass Island.
North Bass Island, also known as Isle St. George, is the northern-most inhabited island in the Shores & Islands region. Located 18 miles from the mainland, and less than two miles away from the Canadian border, this secluded island is only accessible by private plane or boat. There is no ferry service to the island. The island is mostly home to 593 acres of public land, but also features a one-room schoolhouse, post office, church, numerous vineyards, and an airport. Currently, only six families reside on the island year-round.

- 3,065 square foot house
- Can accommodate up to 12 people
- Four bedrooms, each with their own private baths

Hunting and fishing is permitted in designated areas on North Bass Island with a valid Ohio hunting or fishing license. Hiking is also permitted on the island.
This new project is part of more than $230 million that have been invested in Ohio State Parks over the past several years.
The Lake House is available to rent year-round.
