The Shores & Islands Ohio Golf Trail was originally launched in 2021, showcasing golf courses across the destination sure to give golfers of all abilities an enjoyable day on the links. We have now partnered with Bandwango, the platform used with our updated Cheers Trail to bring an interactive experience to the golf course! So, what is new with the updated Golf Trail?
Utilizing the Bandwango platform, visitors are able to check-in at golf courses listed at our Golf Trail page and earn rewards points as they visit each of the courses in Erie and Ottawa Counties, as well as the Saunders Golf Course at Put-in-Bay! As points are accumulated, they can be redeemed at Shores & Islands Ohio welcome centers for golf essentials like tees, pitch mark repair tools, and SPF lip balm, among other items sure to keep your golf bag stocked on the most important things.
The Catawba Island Club has also been added to the Golf Trail! Please be aware that CIC is a private club and a member must accompany any non-member in order to play the course. Catawba Island Club is one of the oldest golf clubs in Shores & Islands Ohio and underwent an incredible transformation by Ohio native Arthur Hills. The course’s signature stretch is the lakeside complex of holes 14-16: a challenging string of holes including two par threes to greens surrounded by water hazards.
My personal favorite course on the Shores & Islands Ohio Golf Trail is the South Course at Thunderbird Hills. A winding stretch along the Huron River provides scenic views and brings the elements into play demanding well placed golf shots to avoid high scores. The flowing course design with deliberate placement of hazards provide a tough, but fair test of a golfers’ skills.
Shores & Islands Ohio has endless ways to make lifetime memories, and the golf course is just one of them. Ready to get on the course and start earning points?
